American International Group (A.I.G.) reports 3Q or Third Quarter 2006 earnings at over two (2) times what they were a year ago. The credit is given to lack of hurricanes which caused lower Property-Casualty Claims.
As always, there are other factors skying the income and profits of Insurance Companies this year, in addition to reduced CatClaims. In today's report regarding A.I.G., credit is also given to Life Insurance sales outside the United States and a new feature appears in these Third Quarter reports: Retirement Savings Products. See "Strong A.I.G. Results" byline Bloomberg News (New York Times Nat'l Ed., Friday, November 10, 2006, page C3, col. 3).
