A couple of things are known now about what many bloggers and reporters often call "Cadillac Care" Health Insurance Plans which would be taxed under the bill currently wending its way through the U.S. Senate.
"Cadillac" refers to the costs announced by Health Insurance Companies, not the benefits available under such Health Insurance Plans. The best explanation I have read of this, is by Allan Sloan, "'Cadillac Care' is Largely a Myth" (Washington Post Online, Friday, December 18, 2009).
There would be not less than 17 exemptions. That means that in 17 States, even so-called "Cadillac Care" Health Insurance Plans under the pending bill would not be taxed. Id. Those 17 States have not been identified as yet. Id.
