One of the lasting effects of Healthcare Reform legislation may be on people between the ages of 19 and 29. This cohort, if you will, dislikes the idea of paying Health Insurance Premiums. So much so that this is one of the things they argue about with their parents, namely, why they do not have Health Insurance.
All in all, there may be a societal change in the offing, moving from a place where young persons are identified in part by not paying Health Insurance Premiums and not having Health Insurance Coverage, to a future place where young people embrace the pursuit of Health Insurance Coverage to such a degree that they are willing to pay Health Insurance Premiums to have it.
"Insurance is Cool." See generally Roni Caryn Rabin, "Big Gains for Young People in Health Law" p. D6, col. 3 (New York Times Nat'l ed., "Health" Section, Tuesday, May 25, 2010). Who woulda guessed?
