I just recently had my annual physical, which I passed with flying colors. The doctor's office handed me some papers to fill out on my visit, as usual. This time, one of the papers asked me to acknowledge that the physical was "free" or at least at no cost to me, courtesy of my insurance company and the doctor.
They forgot something and left it out.
The Affordable Care Act requires health insurance plans to provide coverage for at least one annual physical exam at no cost to the patient.
So, it is true as far as it goes that my insurance company and my doctor provided me with a physical at no cost to me. However, the rest of the story as they say is that the ACA made my health insurance carrier cover the cost of my physical exam at no cost to me.
So, ask this about your ACA benefits: "Who's RESPONSIBLE?" The ACA, that's who.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
