WHY IMPEACHMENT DOESN'T REQUIRE A CRIME UNDER THE FEDERAL STATUTES.

Because there were no federal criminal statutes when the impeachment provision was written.

There could not be a violation of a federal criminal statute since there were no federal criminal statutes when they wrote impeachment into the Constitution.

As simple and as basic as that:  Impeachment does not require a violation of a federal criminal statute.
