I met Brooks Robinson in Tampa. I drove from Orlando. Brooks was a baseball player. Maybe the best Third Baseman who ever lived. He played for the Baltimore Orioles.
That alone tells you how long ago that was when I met him.
He was in the dugout at the Cincinnati Reds complex. I was in the stands. I asked Billy Hunter to tell Brooks I wanted his autograph and maybe speak to him. Hunter walked over to Brooks who was sitting on the bench. I saw Brooks nod. And then I waited while Brooks finished reading a book. We talked.
