Covid Public Health Workers (Irfan Khan / Los Angeles Times)
My wife and I got our second shots of the Covid vaccine Friday morning. Everything went well until the night came.
My wife woke up shaking with chills at midnight. I got a fever. My fingers twitched, my hands were numb. I had a headache that came back every time the Tylenol wore off. My joints and back ached.
These are some of the symptoms of Covid-19. A vaccine is a weakened form of the virus of course. When you get the vaccine, you get the virus in a way your body can tolerate. You get the vaccine so that your body gets the chance to develop antibodies against the virus.
I got the second shot on Friday and I got out of bed on Monday. The headaches are fewer but they are still here. The downright fatigue I felt since early Saturday morning has become more or less ordinary tiredness.
These are all things that I can handle. It is so much better than being in an ICU with Covid. If you haven’t already, have the shot and tell everyone you know to get the vaccine.
Control the coronavirus; don’t let it control us or anyone else.
