Much of what is threatening today can be traced to what Eli Wiesel put in words as well: “Justice without mercy is vengeance.”
When you act with justice, you restrain yourself. The natural desire in some situations to act with righteous vengeance is restrained by mercy, by a sense that it is not your place to inflict harm even though you may think that you have been appointed to the task.
Act with mercy. You won’t regret it.
