The lawyers for Their Furor insist on calling the prosecution The Government. Apparently they want to portray their client, a former president of the United States, as an outsider.
This portrayal displays instead that they are the outsiders. No-one in the New York Courts refers to a prosecution brought by the District Attorney as "The Government." They call the prosecution "The People," whether these lawyers like it or not.
In New York, the prosecution is brought by The People. I can understand why these lawyers don't want to say The People are proving that their client committed crimes. But that's the truth.
It's The People against whom their client has committed crimes, not just The Government.
The People.
